March 2006

I will be updating this section of the website as frequently as physically possible, to keep everybody informed of daily life, special events and other personal news. A way of contact for the future, so to speak. Look out soon for my new "Blog Podcast", available for free subscription through RSS!

I will archive the blog each month, so you can back-track if need be and read back on any interesting bits you may have missed. I will also try to include photos to differentiate the online blog and the downloadable Podcast series, which will simply be music-to-your ears...

"Holidays are coming..."

Well should be a big update this time, due to the vast amount of time you've had to wait for an update, yet alas it would be too boring to read. Nevertheless it will contain some interesting tit-bits for you to take away with you.

Trying to remember back two weeks ago is quite hard, yet as my brain fires up the cells that deal with that sort of thing, I'll tell you about the progress that is my podcast. After a few trials on the cheapest (basically free) options that I have still not found a suitable hosting service for the podcasts as I would wish to keep say 10 online at once and would agree that they are not going to be too large, but then again will soon fill up the 100 mb that I have at the moment, this is problem number 1. The next problem is that, when at uni, I don't have the sophisticated microphone equipment that is readily available at home and hence the quality of the podcast would suffer. The final problem with the podcast is the need for some original music - which I hope to put together over the easter break - ready for a term 3 launch.

Oh yes, as you gathered from that little update on the podcast progress I'm back home, away from my barman job, the hangovers and the general larking about - hopefully to get some rest and sleep before the summers exams! I was quite amazed today however at the snow-filled environment around me that I'd missed last week whilst at uni. Snowball fights here I come! Lovely to see a nice blanket of snow covering the ground so close to my birthday!

Anyway as my brain has now got into gear, I should be able to recall some events that happened recently. The scene is a bitterly windy and cold Warwickshire morning, as the frost is thawing making the hard crust of earth transform itself into a lovely muddy slush. The car slowly comes to a halt in a small town, known as Warwick; home to the fab-niferant Warwick Castle. Not only was the company superb, but also the castle itself, only to be topped off with outstanding actors who literally made the whole experience come to life. The two actors/actresses on the right were simply terrific in this sing-a-long with the "peasants" show, getting not only the kids, but the adults into the spirit of Warwick Castle, even though it had fell to a low of -1C at this point (reference to the musicians instrument underneath the cloth that they are wearing!)

Apart from that little trip to Warwick Castle with the family's visit, I've done nothing much more than work and TV to be perfectly honest. Work, not only in the sense of University work, but also working behind the bar for the students union, of which (whilst on the topic) I will now discuss. The "old skool rave" night happened on Thursday, not really to my delight as the union (bright sparks they are) decided to give whistles free-of-charge out to the revelling students... Needless to say, this was chaos for us sober (and poor) bar-staff, who had constant whistling in their ears for 7 hours of the day and into the wee hours of the morning! The funniest thing was when ear-plugs for us appeared (a good idea I "ear" you say... but remember the fact that it's hard enough to "h-ear" the people's orders in the first place.. let alone with ear-plugs in!)

The German department at Warwick must love the end-of-term as they see us stress-out for the completion of 2 3000 word or more essays/assignments (thank the lord, however, that they were in English - I've not yet taught myself to "waffle" in German!) Nonetheless I completed both (within the nick of time) and my essay on Germany's Women's Movement turned out to be a triumphant finish a whole 72hours before the deadline! Now I must wait the "fail" fate!

And on that "work" related note I was whisked back home after having cleared out my Warwick abode once again for a nice 5 week easter break... just hope I can get some work done in preparation for this summer's exams! - Then again, I think the new series of 24 is simply too good to waste time with lectures, seminars, tutorials and other non-sensical work... what the hell - I'll pretend I'm Jack Bauer for the 5 weeks playing the newest 24 release (24: The Game)

Until Next Time... "Be Safe! Be Happy!"
