"Happy New Year!"
Well another year has passed and it's about time I updated my weblog... I will
be posting another "A Year in the Life..." blog entries when I get round to
finishing and compiling what was a very busy year, but for now I'll update as
and when news-worthy events happen.

Since I last
"blogged", I've enjoyed a sensational Ski Tour with WarwickSnow in Val Thorens
in the French Alps; had a super-relaxing Christmas and New Year and forced
myself back into the swing of rushed essays, tutorials and lectures! Plus the
whole setting the alarm for 7.00am thing, whereby you can take pictures on your
phone such as the one above, whilst enjoying the jolly (but not uncomfortable
chill in the air).

Ski
Tour was simply awesome! There is nothing like the thrill of hurtling down
(icey) mountains at what seems the speed of sound, whilst trying with all your
might to stay in an upright and balanced position. The week was full of fancy
dress-filled nights out to the resorts bars and clubs (which are located
underground to "soak up" the noise!) and snow-filled frolics. The first day was
spent having the usual "snow-plough" lesson to ensure we could all actually stop
ourselves from falling off the cliffs at the edges of most of the ski-runs,
followed by a quick bite to eat (maybe a nap if you are lucky) and then out on
the town for the "nightlife" action, as described above. This pattern of
lessons, bit of skiing in between, food, napping and then off to party the night
away pretty much continued for the entire week. Yet, in order to make sure this
regularity didn't bore us, the WarwickSnow exec team thought up of what may be
described as "bonus" nights. These consisted of a bbq in a nearby resort and a
torchlit run after dark on one of the easy slopes after copious amounts of free
red wine and fondue!
I can only thank
all those 400 fellow WarwickSnow members for making it such a memorable
Christmas present (which I suppose I bought myself as a treat); especially those
who (not mentioning any names for privacy reasons) helped me down some of the
trickier slopes and had patient when I was far too scared for my own good on the
hardest of the blue runs in the first few days of skiing!
So after ski tour,
it was back to my lovely hometown, which sadly hasn't changed much at all, I was
expecting a bowling alley, new Hotel and leisure facilities! I guess I just have
to make do with the new train station, which is scheduled to be completed this
year... Christmas was, as it becoming the norm in the past few years, a
seemingly quiet family affair, sat around the clichéd fire (if we had one)
watching Doctor Who and Corrie Christmas specials; not that I don't enjoy the
relax (it certainly is welcome after as busy a year as I have been having since
becoming a full-time student!) New Year was also a nice quiet affair with the
family, a time for catching up, exchanging jokes and generally having a nice
pleasant time.

Then,
as soon as I knew it, I was back in Leamington Spa with the ladies for another
essay-filled university stint. So far the term has been pretty pleasant, only
had the one or two essays to complete over Christmas (which admittedly where
scribbled down a few days before the deadlines) and am now enjoying relaxing
with Desperate Housewives and being invigorated by the return of the sublime 24
(Season 6)! I am actually quite enjoying this beginning of term and surprisingly
pretty organised, having inputted all my tasks to complete into Outlook's Task
scheduler (which very interestingly synchronises with my phone, so I can check
whilst on the move!) and filed away all those pesky bank statements and weekly
payslips from the various job projects I have going at the moment! Only time
will tell if I am organised to juggle the German and Business department essays
and assignments to my advantage, but I want to stay quietly confident at the
moment, even though the evil temptation of US TV, DVDs, alcohol, nights-out and
money-making bar work are rearing their nasty heads!
Speaking of TV,
I'm looking forward to the return of Doctor Who, especially after the "tease" of
the Christmas special and the superb Torchwood finale, which was far better than
expected after a fairly hit-and-miss series (in my opinion). I'm sure TV will
feature in future blog sessions, but after a quite wordy and waffley blog entry
I'm going to leave it there for now, especially with the prospect of having to
read a "War-and-Peace-length "A Year in the Life" entry coming very soon!
"So... Until
Next Time... Keep smiling, Stay productive and come and visit again soon!"
